One of the biggest things that I have found really hard about social media, especially this year, is that it has become all about the rules. It’s all about what you can and can’t do on social media, it’s all about the way you must be showing up and the guidelines within which you need to operate off.
I want to share with you how you can find freedom and ease within your social media. Social media can become an area of your business you actually love to show up in rather than resent it and feel overwhelmed by it.
1. Stop trying to do it all
Stop trying to do it all and stop trying to do it in a way that other people are doing it. Even if it feels energetically wrong to you. Strip it back, focus on the parts of social media that you really love using. That could be reels, that could be stories, that could be creating amazing post content. Strip it back to the areas in which you love to show up in and focus on doing that area really well. Then once your loving that area and you’re doing that area really well, then you can focus on incorporating more features or different things into your social media.
We often make the mistake because everyone’s telling us the way we have to be doing it. But that’s not how we make decisions in our business as a CEO of our business, right? We don’t just do it because everyone else is doing it. Doing less amazingly is more important than trying to do it all subpar. Right. So stop trying to do it all.
2. Show up because you are feeling inspired
So many business owners I talk to struggle with showing up on social media, and they resent it because they feel like they have to do it. They feel like everyone says their business will die if they don’t show up.
If I want to have a successful business, which I do and these people are saying that this is what you need to do to have a successful business, then I need to do that. But then the problem is, is that you’re showing up because you feel like you have to rather than because you’re feeling inspired. And then what that actually means is the way you show up isn’t even connecting with your dream customer. The way you show up is forced and your dream customer can sense that they can feel the falseness of the way you’re showing up.
You need to be able to create much better content that connects with your dream customer on a deeper level, you’re going to be able to be more vulnerable, more passionate, more empathetic, stronger in your sales ability if you are showing up out of that desire to transform your dream customers life because you actually want to show up you’re feeling inspired to show up.
Lack mindset is actually holding you back in your business. And that lack mindset is really going to affect your ability for your business to grow. So show up because you’re feeling inspired.
3. Strip it back to be consistent
It is better for you to show up authentically and consistently. Rather than to not show up at all, right?
Often what we do is we put this huge pressure on ourselves to be perfect in the way we’re showing up, in the way we do our stories, the way we do our posts, the way we do our reels, whatever content it is that we’re creating. We put this huge pressure on ourselves for everything to be professional and the messaging to be on point.
Thinking unless it’s perfect then you don’t do anything at all. That is where your business can’t grow. That is where your business will struggle.
It is better for you to show up authentically and consistently than to not show up at all. The way that that can look practically with your stories. If you can’t get on there and do talking stories just do boomerangs and images. You’re better off just taking selfies of your face, putting text on it, and posting that on your story then doing nothing in the whole day.
Here’s are tips I have for you:
Posts
When it comes to your posts, if you don’t have the energy to do a professional brand shoot, or you don’t have the finances at the moment, or you don’t have the time to be able to do half a day brand shoot, then just do iPhone photos and Canva templates. Go back through your old photos and crop out. Canva has this amazing new feature where you can outline crop out yourself. Then you can just post that on different templates. And it looks like you’ve got all these different photos. Then at least you’re still posting posts, even if it’s not with fresh brand new photoshoots.
Reels
If you don’t have the energy to dance and vibe around, just do them sitting on the couch pointing at different parts of your screen focusing on educating your audience providing really amazing value with your posts. You don’t have to show up with perfection. And in fact, your audience is going to connect more with you on a deeper level if you don’t show up with perfection if you actually show up real and more authentically, but just keep it consistent.
4. Repurpose that gold baby
Content repurposing, we don’t see it talked about a lot. But it is honestly a game changer when it comes to your content strategy.
Whenever you think of something your dream customer is struggling with, write about that in a note on your phone. And then post that bad boy on your stories, just spread that message, that post, that note from your phone everywhere. You can turn one piece of amazing content into heaps of different types of content that you can post in all different areas of your marketing.
You can do an Instagram story with your three tips in it. You can do three separate stories. One tip for each story, you can do three reels that have one tip in each reel. Write more about it and turn it into a marketing email that you send out to your list. Put it as a blog on your website, turn it into a podcast. There’s so many different things that you can do with one piece of content that you’ve created.
I find it so easy to write it in a note in your phone because you can just let the idea flow out of you. You’re not really overthinking it, you’re just like flowing it out. I’ve voiced noted a lot of those sort of things so that it’s really organic and raw, and just comes out with the message that I want to share because we generally talk much better when we’re actually talking to a customer than we do if we’re sort of trying to write perfect content.
You may think but Amy everyone’s gonna get so sick of reading the same piece of content, but they don’t. And it’s very rare for people to get sick of you repeating yourself in your content because People don’t see everything you post, people aren’t online 24/7 and even if they are, it actually reinforces the message to them. It actually lets that message sink into them and reinforces it to them. So then they actually want to take action, or they actually feel transformed like wow, this girl really knows what she’s talking about. She’s really helped me, I actually want to see if she can help me more, I want to look into our services.
Those are my four tips for you on how you can find more freedom and ease in your social media. When you start trying to implement these things into your social media, you will notice that a lot of it is to do with your mindset, it’s to do with your strategy, its to do with the foundation of your business. And really what it comes down to is when you work through creating a really strong foundation for your business, a really strong strategy that really empowers you in how you show up. That means you actually can let go of a lot of these other things you sort of read on social media or people tell you about, and you can actually start to make the best empowered decisions for you in your business.
