But do I really need to use email marketing in my business?

May 6, 2020 | Marketing General

Whenever I talk to clients about email marketing, they say to me, “you want me to spend more time writing content? But I already have a Facebook, surely that is enough to reach my audience?”

Facebook is a great platform for businesses to start with when they first start marketing, but when they are ready to take it to the next level, email marketing HAS to come into play.

If you feel these things in your business;
– Our social media posts are not reaching our audience
– We are not getting customers coming back to purchase again and again
– Facebook is getting really hard to keep up with as we have to spend more money to reach our dream audience.

Then you need email marketing!

If you have just started looking into email marketing, then you have come to the right place! We help clients every day with their email strategy and are here to help you.

Let’s start with the key things you should know about email marketing:

👉🏼 It is more than just sending a normal email through outlook to one of your customers. We use email marketing platforms to grow a loyal audience that we send out bulk emails to.

👉🏼 It has one of the highest returns on investment (ROI) out of any marketing platform. This is why we love email marketing so much!

👉🏼 You own your email list; you don’t own your Facebook followers- Zuckerberg does!

👉🏼 You can create automated email funnels that send to someone in a series when they join your list, so they are being nurtured without you having to do anything 🤯

There is so much more I could say! But I will leave it at that.

I know what you are thinking though…

Is email marketing really that good?

Will it make my business more money??

You might be surprised to find out that email marketing has one of the highest returns on investment (ROI) out of any marketing platform.

Does that surprise you?

Email marketing has an average ROI of 1:38 (Hubspot 2019). Which means that on average, for every dollar you spend you will make $38 back.

$38! How crazy is that?!

This is because email marketing is a personal experience where you have the opportunity to take your customers on a journey. You can slowly warm them up, so they build trust in your brand and eventually purchase.

It also is an inbound marketing practice, which means that you aren’t forcing people to consume your ad, they have to choose to open it. So, they are already open to listening to you!

Am I convincing you yet?

Okay, here’s another perspective.

Have you ever had a nightmare that you woke up one morning and Facebook and Instagram had completely shut down?!!

You might say, well Amy that’s impossible, these are some of the biggest businesses in the world.

Well you may not remember this… but on the 13th of March in 2019 on a slow Wednesday morning around 11am, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all shut down to a complete blackout!!😧

It was a full 24 hours later (the longest day of any social media managers life) when Facebook said; oops, things are working again. 😂🤷🏻‍♀‍

If your business sells solely on Social Media platforms… what happens if Facebook breaks or Instagram crashes again…?

I know it seems scary!

But this is why we encourage clients to be focusing on growing their email list. Your email list is yours and even if your email marketing platform breaks, you can use another one, or you can still contact your customers through your business email.

Woohoo, go email marketing!!
